Tam Binh OrphanageDynotots has supported the Tam Binh Orphanage in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City for the past 12 years. The Tam Binh Orphanage is located at 130 Quoc lo 1A Phuong Binh Chieu, near the industrial park in Thu Duc. It is about a 40 minute drive from An Phu. There are approximately 400 children at the orphanage and they range in age from newborns up to 18 years. Most of the children are in the age group from two to five. These children do not go to school and spend all day in the orphanage. There are also a number of special needs children living at the Orphanage. How Dynotots HelpsDynotots has recently upgraded two of the baby rooms. As you can see from the "before" photos below, the baby rooms had moldy, cracked walls, dingy paint, not to mention broken doors. Through our fundraising efforts, Dynotots raised enough money to repair & repaint the walls (including painting some colourful murals), install a new ceiling, refurbish doors, replace glass in the windows, hang bright colourful curtains, provide hanging mobiles, new bedding & linen and some toys for the babies to play with in the cots. AFTER:
We are currently in the process of upgrading another room at the orphanage. Jennifer Pieritz, Dynotots liaison with the Orphanage, coordinates visits to the Orphanage around the third Tuesday of each month to play with and stimulate the children (generally those in the two to five age group). Jennifer also makes occasional weekend visits to play with the older children. From time-to-time Dynotots organises drives of items needed at the orphanage, such as toothpaste, toys etc and other living essentials. How you can helpThere are a number of ways you can help the children at the Tam Binh Orphanage. (i) Jennifer is always looking for volunteers to go with her to visit the orphanage and play with the children. The younger children in particular are in real need of stimulation as they spend a lot of their day in their cots without much human contact. (ii) Donations of cash, toys, clothes or other baby/child items are always welcome. Should you have anything you would like to donate, please drop these off at the Dynotots office and we will arrange for them to be delivered to the orphanage. (iii) Keep an eye out and participate in Fundraising events organised by Dynotots. Phu My OrphanageDynotots also supports the Phu My Orphanage in District 3. This Orphanage houses around 400 children at any one time. All of the children in this Orphanage are handicapped. Through events such as a community Fun Run, Dynotots recently helped raise over US$8,000 for the purchase of an industrial size washing machine. This is an invaluable resource for the orphanage and frees up the carers to spend more time with the children. |
