Parent & Toddler is the first stage of learning at Dynotots. Parent & Toddler is an unstructured playgroup for children between 1 and walking up to 2˝ years of age. Children attend with a parent or family member and join either the Morning or the Afternoon session. Parent & Toddler Morning session takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 11.30am. Parent & Toddler Afternoon session takes place on Mondays and Thursdays from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. The Parent & Toddler group is relatively unstructured and informal. There is no teacher supervision and an attending parent (or family member) is required to remain with their toddler. A teacher prepares a pre-planned craft activity for each session. The parents set the programme of activities to suit the group A typical session for the Morning group might include free play from 9:30am to 10:00am. At 10:00am interested children complete a craft activity set out by one of the teachers. At 10:30am children and parents come together for a snack followed by a group sing-a-long and dance session in the popular “bouncy room”. Coffee and tea are available for parents and a staff member prepares a snack for the children. Parents in this group have access to most of the Dynotots facilities, including the indoor and outdoor toys and play equipment, craft materials (paper, crayons and pencils, play dough, paste etc), books, jigsaws and educational games. A staff member cleans up after snack time and at the end of the morning or afternoon. Parents are responsible for clearing away the craft activity and for cleaning up the toys at the end of the session. Nannies are not permitted to attend Parent & Toddler sessions; however, in special circumstances such as the case of illness in which the attending parent has to leave the country, the Parent & Toddler Coordinator may agree to allow a nanny to accompany a child. Nursing babies are welcome to accompany their parent and toddler siblings. However, in view of the fact that this is a group made up of older active children the parent must take full responsibility for the safety of the baby as well as the toddler. Older siblings of an enrolled toddler are permitted to attend Parent & Toddler only during the long summer break and then only with the prior agreement of the Parent & Toddler Coordinator who will determine how busy the group is going to be. Older siblings may not attend Parent & Toddler at any other time Parent & Toddler operates throughout the year, including most school holidays. The whole school is closed for two weeks during Christmas and one week over TET. The intake for each of the Parent & Toddler groups is limited to 17 children. Space permitting, a new member can begin attending sessions any time during the year. Temporary slots do become available when enrolled students are on vacation.
