The Little Guys three-day and five-day programmes are play based. Teachers focus on building children’s independence, confidence and social skills. Teachers emphasise the importance of allowing children to develop their own social, creative and physical skills in a supportive environment. Three-day Programme:When children are 2½ to 3 years old and toilet-trained, they are eligible to enter the second stage of the Dynotots programme, the three-day a week playgroup known as Little Guys. Children entering Little Guys attend three mornings a week, from 8:30am - 11:30am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Children attending Little Guys are taught by the Dynotots teaching staff and parents do not attend. The maximum number of children that can be accommodated in Little Guys is 18. Space permitting, a new member can begin attending sessions at any time during the year. Parent & Toddler children who are 2½ years old and toilet-trained are eligible to join Little Guys at one of the four intake times - August, October, January, or April. Five-day Programme:As children turn 3 years old they are usually ready to increase their attendance to five mornings a week (the third stage of Dynotots and still part of Little Guys). Some children will be ready for this progression sooner than others so teachers make this recommendation to parents on a case-by-case basis. Children attending Little Guys five mornings a week are introduced to pre-reading and pre-writing skills in preparation for their move to Big Guys. In some instances a child’s date of birth may require them to continue in Little Guys for a second year. Parents should not be concerned that their child is repeating the same content as learning will be extended by a more challenging curriculum. For information on this please meet with the teachers. A number of important housekeeping rules for parents and children are explained on the welcome sheet that all parents receive when their child starts at Dynotots.
